Grid operations with Halos and discretization of differential operators

Hi,

I am developing a VPM solver utilizing Cabana, and I am having trouble conceptualizing how halos are used in grid parallel_for functions. I would like to, for example, calculate the curl of a field on a grid, and be able to have either a periodic or non-periodic domain. What is the best way to do this?

Sorry for the delay. I'm not familiar with VPM specifically, but the structured grids in Cabana do handle periodic and non-periodic dimensions with user-specified halo widths. When iterating over those with the grid_parallel_for you can choose to only loop over the owned entities with Cabana::Grid::Own() or to loop over both owned and ghosted entities with Cabana::Grid::Ghost() (ghosted cells on their own would not be a contiguous iteration)

Hopefully https://github.com/ECP-copa/Cabana/blob/master/example/grid_tutorial/06_local_grid/local_grid_example.cpp (or another example) is helpful
