From discussions with the ESGF XC (@philipkershaw, @climate-dude) I understand that support for this tool by the ESGF projects is ending and the recommendation is to pick up esg-pull. With the forthcoming change to new ESGF architecture I believe that esgf-pyclient will no longer be functional without substantial updates/changes.
Could this status be made clear on the front page of this repository and we'll point at this in future communications from CMIP.
