License or patents about badslam

We are considering extend badslam and apply it into a commercial product. Does badslam have a license or patent protection?

Badslam's license allows commercial use for free.

As the main author of badslam, I did not register any patent for it. However, since the software builds on established algorithms such as for example direct camera pose optimization based on RGBD images, it is generally possible that someone else has some patent that I am not aware of that may apply to some (sub)component of the software. Thus, it might be a good idea to do a search for such patents.
