[RFC] Publish as "Android App Bundle" to Play Store

• Smaller app size for users (only native)
• Google Play takes care of building and signing the .apk

Cons:

• Needs different build process

Questions:

• How to support both .abb and .apk in a single configuration (e.g. for f-droid or CI)?

They announced this will be required for Google Play in the second half 2021 for new apps. Not announced to be required for app updates yet, but as we know how Google requires changes until now, I bet will require it eventually.

For what it's worth it should be as easy as replacing
gradlew assembleRelease with gradlew bundleRelease.
The signing configs and such are used by both.

Yes "bundleRelease" will work. Just somebody has to do it xD
