Q: Maintenance status

We've already had a number of issues but been able to put some ugly hacks in place due to relative lack of maintenance.
I am just wondering about the plans for this plugin, if one can rely on it going forwards. For the time being it's broken for iOS17.
Also, if there's any solid Capacitor alternative, whether open-source/free or not.
