Tag a new git release for distros

Hi everyone,

I'm a package maintainer of a distro and I'd like to kindly request a git tag. This would allow us to ship all your great improvements and changes to the users installing from their distro package managers.
Currently distros are shipping an old version which is a bit dated.

Hi @LocutusOfBorg lets first get #1278 get fixed. Then we can release new minor version e.g. 0.8.3.2

Indeed! let me finish review the issues and PR and we can probably tag after updating changelog.
Even 0.8.4 might be better...
