Certificate of Volunteering

As a volunteer, I would like to be able to request an official confirmation of having volunteered at FOSDEM.
This should be possible as either:

• a digital PDF
• • Sent via email
• • Downloadable via the profile after the conference
• a signed and stamped paper version available from the afternoon of day 2 until the Infodesk is torn down.
• • Ideally printed in colour and on think (and glossy) paper
• • TBD: printed on A4 or A5 ???

A requirement for this being made available will be to have signed in to a task.
It should be required to request this newly for every edition (not a permanent rolling option)

Information that should be on the certificate:

• Name of volunteer
• Year of FOSDEM edition
• Number of individual tasks completed
• Generic task names (no duplicates)

A possible wording for such a certificate could be:

FOSDEM hereby confirms and thanks $name for having volunteered at the $year edition.
$name supported the event by volunteering for $number tasks, including $taskList

Do we want to print these? Can't we digitally sign these, or something, for authenticity?
Who/what program has the authority on this?

I think the creation and generation of the PDF will be trivial, the issuance/maintenance less so. Do we already have a button to confirm attendance to a task?

It just doesn't feel the same, I think.

What we do is that we print ~100 of these (we have 50-70 volunteers, so some spares) and we have at least one volunteer with great handwriting, so they write the names of all volunteers (takes about an hour on sunday) and then I sign/stamp them (takes about 20 minutes). Then me or the rest of the team leads give them to the volunteers and thank them at the end of the day, either at the teardown or the afterparty

can't imagine this is required for all volunteers, maybe only a handful?
For signing into a task I seen on festivals where I volunteer that they put up QR Code on the wall of the spot you need to work and they have scanners where they scan said QR code to tie the scanner to the location and the volunteer wristband... to check that person into that location...
At FOSDEM malicious ppl could show up "I do task A", get the orange t-shirt, linger around and do nothing at all, come and collect their attendance certificate...?
Anyway I already pleaded for more control by letting people register in the volunteer tool also on-site ... (now ppl sometimes show up and never get registered afaik ? )
Also wondering if people are going to frame that on their wall or it would be for corporate or education instances where they want proof ...

So I defined this within the requirements, that a user has to select proactively, and every year, that they want a certificate. This would reduce the workload and number of pages to be printed. These could then be either printed on-demand (noting in the DB that they had been printed), or printer around lunchtime on Sunday ready for collection.

I would not print them earlier, as people may change tasks, and I think it would be nice that this info is on the certificate

Regarding the point about people signing up, taking the T-Shirt, and then the certificate and not doing anything, this would be dependant on #121 being implemented, and a link between them being made.
