FPP issues with Baldrick 8, ESP32 devices & Artnet/E1.31 with DDP devices #2425

I had a 4 year old Electron controller that I had been using in artnet mode to control a Pixel 2 Things Controller. When I added the Baldrick 8 and also added 4 RGB2GO devices I began to have an issue where anything attached to the Baldrick 8 would flash all pixel light constantly.

I jumped on the zoom room and almost 3 hours later we figured out that if all controllers are set to DDP and there is 1 Artnet device configured on the FPP device that would make the baldrick 8 pulsate all the prop lights non stop when receiving data from the FPP player only.

We performed test from xlights sending the data to the controller and play a sequence and everything would play correctly. Then we perform a local test from the baldrick device and everything worked well.

The only time it would not work correctly was when receiving data from FPP.

We then changed the artnet device to E1.31 and the issue stopped and everything began to work correctly.

But the FPP issues came back then affecting all RGB2GO and the Baldrick.

Once I configure the Electron to work as E1.31 and all other devices as DDP any device with ESP32 so all the RGB2GO and the Baldrick 8 shifted the colors on all the props and did not match the sequence.

I removed the Electron device and added an RGB2GO for controlling the Pixel 2 Things Controller and attempted to set it up ad DDP but could not get it to work properly with the Pixel 2 Things Controller. I then switch that one RGB2GO to E1.31 so I could set it up to use channel and universes that allows me to manually set all the channels for the Pixel 2 Things Controller.

Once again all the ESP32 devices when receiving data from FPP and only from FPP the color would shift to the incorrect colors when playing a sequence.

So quick recap.

If using 1 Artnet all other set as DDP and playing a sequence from FPP device the light will blink constantly on a Baldrick 8

If using 1 E1.31 device all other set as DDP and playing a sequence from FPP device all ESP32 devices will shift the colors and display incorrectly

Playing from xlights directly everything works.

Per the zoon room this seems to be a bug with FPP and the developer that was on the call asked me to put this article here as a reminder to look into this when time allows.

Currently for everything to work I am running everything as E1.31 and it all works great.
