Talking with @nhoening about electric vehicles charging hubs, I raised the issue of intermediate power constraints. With the recent introduction of multi-asset scheduling, it would be quite powerful to allow defining intermediate constraints.
Currently, the sum of all devices are only constrained at the EMS level. This same quantity is used in the optimization. An idea is to impose power constraints to the different groups of devices. The flex context would include a new field:
power-constraints, with the following format:{ "power-constraints" : [ {"group" : [1,2], "lower" : {"sensor" : 9}, "upper" : "20 kW" }, {"group" : [3,4], "lower" : {"sensor" : 10}, "upper" : "20 kW" }, {"group" : [1,4], "upper" : "15 kW" }, ] }This would get translated into the following constraints:
Of course this could be extended with other features like deriving the power constraints directly from the asset hierarchy or adding energy commitments at different levels to model multi-site optimization.
