Question regarding federation

Hello,
I've setup a wanderer instance on my homelab. I also have a gotosocial instance running on a public vps. With that GTS Account I can follow my wanderer user. The GTS user appears as follower on wanderer.

If I now import a trail, I did not see anything on my gts account. I've imported a quite old trail (about 2 years old). I would have guessed that I should see a message in my timeline.

Is this due to some incompatibility with GTS or do you have some other suggestions.

I dont want to open an issue, because first I like to understand what's really possible. :)
