Change username

With the introduction of the fediverse, I am kind of figuring out a way to handle my 2 accounts (one on Mastodon, and now one on my self-hosted Wanderer).

The story
One of the things I did when setting up my wanderer-instance was creating an account, with a random username. Thinking it would be non-linked instance, solely for my own use, I didn't think much of it, and continued using and importing all my trails from Komoot.
With the introduction of being able to follow my own instances in both ways: Mastodon <-> Wanderer, I noticed that this username is now out in the open, and I'd like to change it to something more appropriate and visible. I can't seem to find a function to change the username, which is what I need now.

TL;DR
I need to change my username, and can't find a way to do it.

I can live with a one-off solution, and am not really afraid of using the command line. But I am wondering how easy it'd be to implement, since I'm not really familiar with the used stack.

Hi,

this is already possible, with a bit of work on database side. You can open the pocketbase frontend (see wiki) and change your username on following fields:

• activitypub_actors: username, (preferred_username), iri, inbox, outbox, followers, following
• users: username, (name)

If applicable/relevant for you, the username is stored as text (not as id) in:

• notifications (history)

So I changed the values in the pocketbase, but when I try to access a trail, it will redirect me to the old name. I'm not sure where that name comes from, except from maybe the meilisearch? Should I change something there as well?

restarting search container (meili) should be enough

I've got about 300 trails, I'm not sure if that's a large dataset.
But, how would indexing help?

The trails page (with filter) is working with the index. Only indexed trails are visible on this page. The trails you can see on the start page or linked to a list, should instantly work after username change. But on trails page, the index has to be completed. This is my understanding, but maybe I'm totally wrong... :(

Ok, that makes sense. I also updated to 0.18.1 now, and now it works!

I'll probably document it later today somewhere. Is it worth adding this to the docs?

I would prefer an option that allows you to change the username in the application (profile page?) ;) But this is not my decision. -> @Flomp ?
