I really appreciate the options for remembering the last query results, especially if I am going back and forth from Flow and a result/plugin/app launch.
Sometimes however I find myself coming across a "rough edge" where I get used to launching/typing to search (from muscle memory, really), and the ability to have had the the last query cleared would be nice.
Describe the solution you'd like
A basic conditional timer to clear after last search or after a time idle/hidden seems like an appropriate starting point that would address the desire for the results to be remembered in the short, bursty workflow going back and forth with Flow (when I'll remember clearing last Selected query myself as needed, for instance), while then having it cleared when not used for some (maybe customizable) time, say 5 minutes.
Describe alternatives you've considered
For now, #2696 looks like a solid starting point in the next release to allow for quickly getting into the search history if paired with any of the last query styles and/or "Select Last Query".
That said, I think this idea would interact well here as a separate option, since it would give users a quick way to get into the last search if it was cleared or has been idle/cleared after some time, but have immediate access to the preferred recent query style when interacting more frequently.
Additional context
Looking at past requests/issues, I did see that an option for ESC as a hotkey to clear queries was discussed in #1133, however I feel that this use case is unique enough to distinguish its usefulness from the current and coming features around Last Query Style.
