Is the Octolapse project dead?

It has been 2 years since the last commit to the repo. @FormerLurker seems to have disappeared from GitHub with no activity on their profile over the past 2 years. The number of issues continue to grow and several PRs are waiting to merge (including one of my own).

The plugin had over 11k active instances in the past month and had over 200 new installs in the past week (ref. plugin statistics).

I wonder what happened to @FormerLurker. What happens when the maintainer of a popular repo disappears?

I am considering forking the project to continue development and prevent it from going stale. But before doing that I would want to attempt contacting @FormerLurker via other channels and try to find out what happened to them. I would also like some help with the maintenance if I do fork.
