Steps to reproduce the bug

Testing changes made in Fossify:

  1. Make sure calendar sync is turned on in Fossify, and enable all my calendars.
  2. Add or delete an event in Fossify, in my main Google calendar.
  3. Look at Google Calendar on my phone or on the web, and observe the change is not immediately present there.
  4. Pull down the main view to sync. Wait for several minutes of syncing.
  5. Observe the change present in Google Calendar.

Testing changes made outside of Fossify:

  1. Make sure calendar sync is turned on in Fossify, and enable all my calendars.
  2. Add or delete an event in either the Google Calendar app on my phone, or on the web.
  3. Look at Google Calendar on my phone or on the web (whichever I didn't use), and observe the change is immediately present there, within seconds.
  4. Open Fossify or look at the widget. Observe the change is not immediately present there.
  5. Pull down the main view to sync. Wait for several minutes of syncing.
  6. Observe the change present in Fossify.

Expected behavior

Changes made in Fossify Calendar should be immediately synced to the original calendar, within seconds, without having to explicitly invoke a sync.

Changes made outside Fossify Calendar should be immediately synced and visible within Fossify Calendar, within seconds, without having to explicitly invoke a sync.

Actual behavior

Changes made in Fossify Calendar require an explicit sync that takes several minutes before they show up elsewhere.

Changes made outside Fossify Calendar require an explicit sync hat takes several minutes before they show up in Fossify Calendar.

Additional information

Happy to try various experiments here. Happy to supply logs if that would help, as long as I can capture them with only a test calendar enabled, and easily verify that the logs don't contain any of my private calendar data.
