What happened?

Hello, after doing a modprobedb recall I noticed three modules were missing, then I went ahead and decided to recompile it and I didn't notice this previously:

Is my config somehow bugged? these are present in the vanilla Arch kernel.

Apparently new 6.15 drivers, as I wasn't getting this issue with 6.14

yeah, please compile with modprobed-db off and give us the new modules that show up, I'll do the same on my machine.

Every time a new kernel gets released we just copy over the db but modules get added/removed/renamed in-between

It's a Realtek ALC AC97 chip iirc using the snd_hda_intel driver

Decided to manually compile the vanilla Arch kernel today and interestingly enough these modules are still missing, yet when I just install it from pacman they're there... Not really sure whats going on anymore.

What config file are you using for the kernel? If you're using the defconfig and not "running-kernel" this could explain the discrepancy between Arch kernel modules and the TKG kernel modules, unless TKG updates their defconfig file to match the latest Arch one, it won't compile the exact same kernel, there will be some changes

Arch's default one, even tried running-kernel on the vanilla linux kernel from the arch repo and still nothing, I cannot get either tkg or arch's own PKGBUILD to compile these three specific modules no matter what

Hello there! While this is a shot in the dark, maybe installing sof-firmware via pacman -S sof-firmware could do something?

Okay I think I solved, pushing the fix now, feel free to re-open this issue if it's not the case. I had to add an unrelated module snd_soc_adi_axi_i2s that pulls in snd_pcm_medaengine so it gets activated. This most probably an oversight upstream where they did not set the proper dependencies for whatever module that needs snd_pcm_medaengine
