On Apple2GS config doesn't work booting on 1.5, but does work from 1.4

Curious if anyone else sees this. On IIGS, I have 1.5 and with this, config works if I boot to GSOS with CFFA 3000, and then use the control panel version of Fujinet Config. But, if I try booting from Fujinet, it shows no wifi networks, and the Config option shows nothing. It looks like the app is loading but it's not talking to hardware.

I downgraded back to 1.4, and now it shows config find on boot. (I know this is a weird one.)

I am able to generally use 1.5 if I manage it from the website.

I also have AppleSqueezer, and turned all of its options off so it's running as normal Fast mode on IIGS for this just in case (though I'd rather not pry it out as I don't want to stress my CPU socket). Don't think this is related, but here for completeness.

With a similar setup nightly won't boot CONFIG at all. I haven't tested recently but if this is the same problem as previously, this setup has been broken as far back as at least late 2024. I did bisect this at some point to find the commit that broke things but I recall I may have only posted my results on Discord and I'm not sure if they're findable any more…

It looks related to having CFFA-3000 enabled in slot 7. Issue shows up with 'Your Card' enable in slot 7.

Oh, and it is working on v1.5.0.10f3f7. Going to poke around this for a little bit, see how it goes.

OK, this is weird, it seems to have started working for me (with the same nightly, 1.5.0.10f3f7) more often than it did! Maybe this is partially fixed. (update from Discord: may have been fixed in April by the change for #907)

I also have a CFFA3000 in slot 7 of my IIgs. If I remove all the SmartPort disk assignments from the CFFA3000 configuration then CONFIG boots OK; it's only if there are SmartPort devices in slot 7 that it had previously failed to boot CONFIG from slot 5 (but is working with the nightly?!).

A few other tests:

• If I map a disk to S7,D1 after booting CONFIG it works fine and I can still boot from either slot 7 or slot 5
• If I send a RESET command to the FujiNet then try boot slot 5, it says "No device connected!". I need to power the IIgs off and back on to get it to work. This used to boot into CONFIG without a power cycle, but may be a separate issue. I can test without the CFFA3000 installed at some point.

When I run modem-and-cpm.po on the daily, modem works, but cpm doesn't. This is unrelated to whether or not CFA-3000 is enabled. CPM works fine for me on the 1.5. (Maybe also unrelated dev random.)

I'm unable to reproduce your reset issue. I'm on the daily, CFFA-3000 enabled with two drives mounted in slot 7. I have no drives mounted in Fujinet, and then I click 'reset' on the website. It's been coming back to Fujinet on slot 5.
I do have a system for the soft-reset. I hold down OpenApple and control, press reset, and I hold down OpenApple and control a long time, a few seconds into the copyright screen. (When I went back to IIGS I found reset was consistently flaky, I think because I wasn't holding down the modifier keys long enough.)

I tried resetting with a SmartPort command from a IIgs app rather than the website. This did reset the FujiNet — I could see that over a serial console, but I could not get any SmartPort traffic to pass after it reset. I just tried resetting again via the SmartPort without the CFFA3000 and it behaved identically, so I think this is a different issue and I should report it separately.

I tend to avoid the web interface as it's really flaky for me (often will just give up on a request after sending the HTTP header, or goes dead entirely), but once I restarted the FujiNet, I could replicate what you did — no issue loading CONFIG after I reset from the button on the web page rather than the IIgs side.

Resetting from the keyboard seems to not work at all for me — way less well than I remember from when I used to use a IIgs when it was new. Ctrl-OA-Reset does not do anything different from Ctrl-Reset. Might be something wrong with my IIgs; I'll have to see what happens when I try others.
