Linking HELICS 3.6.1 with MATLAB (Windows System)

sir, i am trying to build HELICS-MATLAB Interface, I am using Windows for this case Using PowerShell command prompt. I already installed prerequisites like git , cmake, boost , helics python binding, Visual Studio Build Tools 2022 with version 17.14.16 and python versiom 3.11. when i am following steps for installation of HELICS with MATLAB we trouble in cmake step some error is there.

This sounds like you aren’t doing the build with the correct environment variables set in your powershell that CMake uses to locate visual studio. Easiest fix is likely to do your build in a developer command prompt or developer powershell instead. A quick google search should turn up additional info and other potential solutions as this error does not appear to be specific to HELICS.

I also noticed it looks like you’re trying to use the option for building the swig version of the matlab HELICS bindings, which were deprecated and removed prior to version 3.6 - unless you’re using an ancient version of matlab such as 2015 (which requires using an old version of HELICS), you won’t want to do that.

I’d recommend reading the README for the matHELICS repository because that explains several ways to get a copy of HELICS with matlab bindings - if you are using a suitable version of matlab, the precompiled packages will be your easiest option.

I guarantee you don’t have git version 4.1.1 because that version of git does not exist.

I’m going to strongly recommend carefully re-reading the matHELICS README (the one shown in the lower portion of the page below the files in the repository at https://github.com/GMLC-TDC/matHELICS) and see the options it mentions for installation and their steps — as mentioned in the previous comment I left, the small bit of what I see in the screenshots you’ve shared indicates to me that you are following steps that will not work at all with the latest version of HELICS (maybe you’re looking at an old install guide somewhere in which case share a link so we can remove it).

If you want to keep trying what you’re currently doing, re-reading everything that is being output in your screenshot will help a lot (consider using the CMake GUI instead as it is more user friendly if you’re new to CMake on Windows) — I’m not going to be able to provide any more support since those are steps that will not work in the latest version of HELICS.
