Vulkan swapchain resize causes multi second stall after 25.10.2 driver update

Hello,

After updating to driver version 25.10.2, there appears to be a regression affecting Vulkan applications. Resize events now take multiple seconds to complete and cause the rendering thread to stall. This issue is reproducible across all Vulkan applications I have tested. As a simple example, it can be observed using VkCube (build from the Vulkan SDK v1.4.328.1).

Since the problem is consistently reproducible, I have not performed deeper investigation and am providing this report so it can be investigated directly.

I've seen reports affecting multiple software, like:

• mpv: video freezes for a few seconds when resizing window with gpu-api vulkan mpv-player/mpv#17074
• egui: wgpu vulkan backend hangs on resize on windows emilk/egui#7718

I can confirm that this is a known issue, and we have already addressed it internally. A driver update with the fix should be available soon. In the meantime, I suggest reverting to the previous driver version as a temporary workaround. We apologize for the inconvenience.

There was driver update for AMD 25.12.1 but the issue seems to persist.
Tested on Blender 5.0 with Vulkan viewport renderer.
