The belt key should work whle an inventory is open.

It would be nice if you could switch your belt hotbar while an inventory is open. Since getting access to the belt, I've often lost track of items in my belt. It would be nice if I could access them without needing to exit and re-enter the inventory GUI.

NEI has a separate keybinding for toggling the belt in inventories. Check the NEI config.

• it isn't clear to me why that should be a separate binding
• the NEI config does not support binding controls to mouse buttons
