Where cognition-core is now

The repo is now a stronger alpha control shell than the original upload. The execution spine is materially improved:

  • adapters return structured responses
  • backend checks can enforce a real live backend
  • benchmark runs emit run IDs, failure state, and latency
  • scoring is task-aware instead of purely keyword-based
  • promotion stores richer ledger metadata and dedupes by run
  • the full candidate gate actually includes backend verification

What is still not complete

The repo is still not a finished production cognition stack. The remaining hard blockers are:

  • real trainer wiring for LoRA/SFT and preference stages
  • real merge of adapters/checkpoints
  • real GGUF export/conversion
  • real quantization retention comparisons against the produced candidate
  • deeper benchmark suites generated from the surrounding ecosystem repos

What this update adds

This phase adds the next necessary scaffolding rather than pretending those hard blockers are solved:

  • deterministic artifact manifests for training, merge, and GGUF export stages
  • a candidate artifact chain runner
  • curated source-ingestion scripts for the supporting packages
  • new dataset families to hold extracted ecosystem signal
  • schemas for artifact manifests and source-ingestion manifests

Next best move

  1. Run the supporting repo ingestion scripts against the uploaded packages.
  2. Review the emitted JSONL records and prune weak ones.
  3. Wire a real trainer/export stack into the artifact chain.
  4. Expand benchmarks using the curated records before claiming major capability jumps.
