[Resolved] Rust Edition of Gnirehtet: VPN Icon Shows on Android 15, But Device Can’t Access Internet

I'm using the Rust version of Gnirehtet on Windows11 22H2. While the VPN icon shows up on my Android 15 device, it’s not actually connected to the internet, so I can’t get online.

Just use the Java version. I extracted the zip package of JDK 11 (not JDK 8) into the same directory as gnirehtet (as shown in the figure), then modified the content of the gnirehtet-run.cmd file to:

@bin\java -jar gnirehtet.jar run
@pause

After that, I can successfully share the computer's network with the Android device, allowing the Android device to access the internet normally.

No, I don't need to run gnirehtet-java as an administrator to share the network connection; it works fine without it.

You can use a portable JDK for this, so no installation is needed.

If you're on Windows, simply download the JDK 11 .zip file from here (as shown in the figure below). Then, unzip its contents (the directory with bin, conf, etc.) into the same folder as your gnirehtet-run.cmd file.

This approach is non-invasive and clean. It won't alter your system's environment variables or registry at all.

I saw your issue #586. The problem I had before seems a bit different from yours.

In my case, the VPN icon did show up on my Android 15 device, but I never got any messages like "Tcp Connection Open and Close" on my computer.

So my solution might not work for you, but it could be worth a shot :)

update: yeah it worked with java and did your steps but still the problem is the internet. maybe I need to adb reverse but I don't know how to do that because my company server has VPN. Thanks again.

Hello. I have that same exact issue as yours (in your update:[...]). Did you find any way to make this work ? Or maybe using another app ?
