problem with utf8 characters

Here's a log that explains it:

You say, "if I say é all works fine"
You say, "if I type a character, then backspace, then another character, is works fine. for eg. I'm going to type 'say a<backspace>b'"
You say, "b"
You say, "but if I type a character with accent like à and then backspace and then b, like 'say à<backspace>b' this is what happens:"
You say, "�b"
You say, "it seems that the character is multibyte but the backpace only deleted one of the bytes"
