Support dual monitor setup with second Elastic window

We run a dual monitor setup. We can stretch the width of the Elastic window across the two monitors. But when you quit and reopen the app, that width is not remembered. Widgets stay at the coordinates we put them at. So with the narrow width when you first open the app, it looks as if widgets are missing off the dashboard. They're there once you re-stretch the window across the monitors.

Describe the solution you'd like

Rather than stretching the window like this, supporting a second window in the app would be preferable. This would let us place widgets on the monitor we like and keep those layouts better between sessions.

Stretching the window is all we've been able to come up with.

This has been a frequently requested feature which I would love to implement. Unfortunately, at the moment, Flutter does not natively support creating multiple windows within an app. Canonical has been working on it for a while, and hopefully it should be available in a Flutter release sometime soon. Once Flutter supports it, the first thing I will be adding is a way to display a tab in a separate window so teams can use Elastic on 2 different screens.

Regarding the window size: in the settings (Appearance), there is an option to remember the window position, which might resolve the sizing issue on startup, I haven't experimented with how it works on separate monitors though.

In the meantime, I've recommended teams to use 2 different dashboards on separate displays, or if one is being used just for a camera stream, you can open the camera stream URL in a browser and it will display

The remember window position feature doesn't remember the size of the window when it spans across the two monitors. But thanks for that suggestion anyway.
