Goob Station Contributor License Agreement (CLA)

Purpose

This CLA governs contributions to the Goob Station codebase. It clarifies ownership, authorship, and the rights granted to the Goob Station organization, while ensuring proper handling of ported content.

Terms

  1. Scope / Definitions

    • “Contributions” include all code, documentation, media assets, and other materials submitted to the Goob Station repository or related projects.
    • Contributions must be your original work, or contributions for which you have the legal right to grant the rights described herein.

  2. Ownership of Contributions
    You, the contributor, retain ownership of all contributions you make to the Goob Station codebase.

  3. License Headers

    • Contributors may include their name in the license header of each file they submit.
    • If a contributor includes their authorship, they retain full control over licensing, and Goob Station is not automatically granted rights to relicense the contribution.
    • If a contributor does not include their authorship, the contribution is considered part of Goob Station Contributors, and Goob Station is granted the right to use, modify, distribute, and relicense the contribution under MPL-R, MPL, MIT, or other licenses.

  4. Ported Content

    • Contributions ported from other projects do not require the original author to sign this CLA.
    • The original author’s name must always remain in the license header.
    • Goob Station may not relicense ported content under MPL-R, MPL, or MIT without the original author’s explicit permission.
    • If the original author of ported content signs the CLA, their contribution may be grouped under Goob Station Contributors, granting Goob Station the rights described in Section 3.

  5. Moral Rights / Waiver
    By signing this CLA, you waive any moral rights to your contributions to the extent permitted by law, allowing Goob Station to modify, adapt, or relicense contributions freely under the conditions described above.

  6. Third-Party Dependencies
    By signing this CLA, you represent and warrant that your contributions do not violate the intellectual property rights of any third party and do not include any code or assets under licenses incompatible with MPL-R.

  7. No Revocation
    Once you sign this CLA and your contributions are accepted, you cannot revoke the rights granted to Goob Station for contributions already included in the codebase under the rules described above.

  8. No Additional Obligations
    Nothing in this CLA obligates Goob Station to use, distribute, or modify your contributions.

  9. Representations
    You represent that you have the legal right to make the contributions and grant the rights described herein.

  10. Acceptance
    Acceptance of this CLA is handled automatically by the CLA Assistant Bot (https://github.com/cla-assistant/cla-assistant). You must sign it through the bot before your contributions are recognized or granted any rights by Goob Station.
