Cherry-pick 2.x compatible updates from 3.x branch #3
Description
This is more of a catch-all issue. Many update have been pushed to the main taskwarrior 3.x branch, that would be compatible with the 2.x branch (mostly c++ code) I'd like to start selecting and pushing some of those.
