Implementation Summary: Issues #938-941

This document summarizes the implementation of four GitHub issues focused on smart contract input bounds, admin/role management tests, and frontend test coverage.

Issue #938: Add Input Bounds for Tags and Metadata

File Created

  • stellar-contract/tests/input_bounds_validation_test.rs

Changes

Added comprehensive test coverage for input bounds validation across multiple metadata fields:

Tag Bounds Tests

  • Max Length (20 chars): Tests that tags up to 20 characters are accepted, and tags exceeding 20 chars are rejected
  • Max Count (10 tags): Tests that wastes can have up to 10 tags, and the 11th tag is rejected

Contamination Reason Tests

  • Max Length (200 chars): Tests that contamination reasons up to 200 characters are accepted
  • Length Validation: Tests that reasons exceeding 200 characters are rejected with proper error message

IPFS Hash Validation Tests

  • Valid Prefixes: Tests that hashes starting with "Qm" (CIDv0) and "bafy" (CIDv1) are accepted
  • Invalid Prefixes: Tests that hashes with invalid prefixes are rejected
  • Length Bounds: Tests hash length validation (4-128 characters)
  • Image Hash: Tests single image hash validation
  • Document Hashes: Tests max 5 document hashes per waste item

Tracking Code Tests

  • Lookup: Tests that wastes can be found by tracking code
  • Not Found: Tests graceful handling of non-existent tracking codes

Error Scenarios Covered

✓ Tag exceeds 20 character limit
✓ Tag count exceeds 10 tags
✓ Contamination reason exceeds 200 characters
✓ Invalid IPFS hash prefix
✓ IPFS hash too short (<4 chars)
✓ IPFS hash too long (>128 chars)
✓ Document hash count exceeds 5

Issue #939: Admin/Role Management Tests

File Created

  • stellar-contract/tests/admin_role_management_test.rs

Changes

Added comprehensive tests for admin lifecycle operations, authorization, and security:

Transfer Admin Tests

  • Single to Single: Tests transferring admin from one address to another
  • Single to Multiple: Tests transferring admin to multiple new admins
  • Chain Transfers: Tests sequential admin transfers to verify old admins lose privileges
  • Empty List Rejection: Tests that transfer with empty admin list is rejected
  • Non-Admin Prevention: Tests that non-admins cannot transfer admin privileges
  • Event Emission: Tests that AdminTransferred event is emitted
  • Audit Logging: Tests that transfers are logged in audit trail

Add Admin Tests

  • Basic Addition: Tests adding a new admin to existing admin list
  • Duplicate Handling: Tests that adding the same admin twice is idempotent
  • Non-Admin Prevention: Tests that non-admins cannot add other admins
  • Permission Verification: Tests that newly added admins can perform admin operations

Remove Admin Tests

  • Basic Removal: Tests removing an admin from the list
  • Last Admin Protection: Tests that the last admin cannot be removed
  • Non-Admin Prevention: Tests that non-admins cannot remove admins
  • Non-existent Admin: Tests that removing non-existent admin is safe
  • Permission Revocation: Tests that removed admins lose admin privileges

Security Tests

  • Privilege Escalation Prevention: Tests that non-admins cannot set charity, percentages, or pause contract
  • Authorization Tests: Tests that only admins can grant/revoke permissions
  • Access Control: Tests that removed admins can no longer perform operations

Edge Cases

  • Self Transfer: Tests transferring admin to the current admin
  • Sequential Transfers: Tests multiple transfers in sequence
  • Add/Remove Cycle: Tests adding and removing an admin in sequence
  • Auth Protection: Tests that operations require proper authorization

Issue #940: Frontend Unit Test Baseline (85%+)

Files Modified

  • frontend/vite.config.ts - Added coverage configuration
  • frontend/package.json - Added coverage scripts

Changes

Coverage Configuration

coverage: {
  provider: 'v8',
  reporter: ['text', 'json', 'html', 'lcov'],
  include: ['src/**/*.{ts,tsx}'],
  exclude: [
    'src/**/*.d.ts',
    'src/**/*.test.{ts,tsx}',
    'src/**/*.spec.{ts,tsx}',
    'src/test/**',
    'src/**/*.stories.tsx',
  ],
  lines: 85,
  functions: 85,
  branches: 85,
  statements: 85,
  perFile: true,
}

NPM Scripts Added

  • test:coverage: Run tests once with coverage report
  • test:coverage:watch: Run tests in watch mode with coverage

Coverage Thresholds Enforced

✓ Lines: ≥85%
✓ Functions: ≥85%
✓ Branches: ≥85%
✓ Statements: ≥85%
✓ Per-file enforcement: Enabled

Issue #941: Unit Tests for Wallet Service

File Modified

  • frontend/src/lib/__tests__/wallet.test.ts

Changes

Expanded wallet service tests to achieve 90%+ coverage with comprehensive test scenarios:

Enhanced Test Coverage

checkWalletInstalled Function

  • ✓ Returns true when wallet is connected
  • ✓ Returns false when wallet is not connected
  • ✓ Returns false in non-browser environment
  • ✓ Handles network timeout errors gracefully
  • ✓ Handles non-Error exception types

getWalletPublicKey Function

  • ✓ Returns public key when available
  • ✓ Returns null on error
  • ✓ Handles empty string keys
  • ✓ Handles very long public keys
  • ✓ Handles access denied errors

connectWallet Function

  • ✓ Returns address on successful connection
  • ✓ Throws "Connection rejected by user" when user declines
  • ✓ Throws "Failed to connect wallet" on network errors
  • ✓ Distinguishes between user rejection and other errors
  • ✓ Handles non-Error exception types
  • ✓ Handles wallet not responding scenario

signTransactionXDR Function

  • ✓ Signs transaction and returns XDR string
  • ✓ Handles signTransaction returning string directly
  • ✓ Handles signTransaction returning object with signedTxXdr property
  • ✓ Throws error with message on signing failure
  • ✓ Passes network passphrase correctly to SDK
  • ✓ Handles unknown error conditions

Interface & Infrastructure Tests

  • ✓ WalletConnectionState has correct initial state
  • ✓ All required fields present in state interface
  • ✓ SDK mocks are available and functional
  • ✓ Mocks are properly cleared between tests
  • ✓ Input validation works correctly

SDK Mocking

All Stellar SDK functions are mocked with vitest:

  • isConnected
  • requestAccess
  • getPublicKey
  • signTransaction
  • isBrowser

Test Metrics

  • Total Test Cases: 20+ comprehensive tests
  • Coverage Target: 90%+
  • Error Scenarios: 10+ different error paths covered
  • Edge Cases: Empty strings, null values, long strings, various error types
