Should we move from a single "Affected territories" categorical option to a combination of higher level category and option for extended detail? #6

After making a few submissions, I realise it might make sense to have:

  1. a categorical choice for high level regions (i.e. Europe, North America, China, South East Asia, South Asia, Africa, Latin America, Australasia)
  2. a free text option for a comma separate list of states, or countries within the higher level grouping.

I'm suggesting this, because just offering a list of countries would make the checkboxes for the form colossal, and having just a free text form would make it much harder to filter meaningfully later.

As I understand it, Notion supports the two options out of the box, and I don't think we'd be able to do anything clever with dropdowns otherwise. This at least allows us to offer a coarse grouping, while leaving room for more detailed information about.

This would allow us to cover policy about Texas in the USA (where datacentre buildout is the growing the fastest in the US), or Ireland or France in Europe.

Geographically at least the UK is still in Europe, even if it's not in the European Union any more.
