Here are the Readme's that I would like to use as a guideline:

   -- this one might over-do it with the screenshots (or it could just be because their terminal colors are intense)
3. https://github.com/webpro/release-it

Let me know if you have any feedback on which ones I should most closely follow. PS we could also save this as a discussion item for Thursday.

This looks really good! I made a few small tweaks and opened a pull request (#13) -- the main change I propose is to note that you need to define the jsonsub command at the beginning of the latex file so that you can use the command in the text.
