PubChem uses Compound Identifiers (CIDs) for unique chemical structures and Substance Identifiers (SIDs) for individual submissions. (https://pubchem.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/docs/data-organization)
Would it make sense to handle this similarly to uniprot?
