NOAA Ocean Station Papa buoys in CIOOS

NOAA's mooring data from Ocean Station Papa is available in realtime https://www.pmel.noaa.gov/ocs/data-overview with refresh rates of ~1 hr to 1 min across 43 different sensors. Since the IOS data for Line P are a high value dataset, it would make sense to bring in this 18 year timeseries of mooring data into CIOOS to make it easier for those looking for Line P data to access all of the data that they need through one site. It would be good to make these data discoverable across CIOOS data discovery tools as well. If we need someone at NOAA to create a metadata entry, Megan Cronin or Patrick Berk would be good people to contact for the next steps.

If they have an ERDDAP instance with that data already live within IOOS it would be very straight forward to create ERDDAP datasets on the Pacific ERDDAP that points to those other ERDDAP datasets. The metadata record is another step. We technically not fully need metadata records though it would be nice to have (like for the Great Lakes datasets).

I can see a THREDDS server with that data. https://dods.ndbc.noaa.gov/thredds/catalog/oceansites/catalog.html

But if we use that ERDDAP would make a copy of the thredd files on the CIOOS server.

If an ERDDAP server already exists then the CIOOS equivalent would essentially redirect any queries to the US counterpart.

Their ERDDAP server is https://data.pmel.noaa.gov/pmel/erddap/ , but I haven't checked if this data is available there

I can see this dataset that has some data from station papa:

but the latest data is from last September.

I guess the main thing is if we just want those datasets in CDE we can simply harvest their ERDDAP, otherwise, we can create new linked datasets on the CIOOS Pacific ERDDAP
