Abbe defined at e

Some countries and patents use a definition for the Abbe number through e, F', C'. Is it possible to have something like that in Optiland for AbbeMaterial?

Thanks for the question. This is currently not supported, but it certainly could be added. It would be as simple as refitting a polynomial model (what AbbeMaterial uses) to existing glass data (e.g., Schott) using the e-line instead of the d-line. I can look into this, or perhaps someone else wants to take a crack at it.

I revisited this and decided to 1) update the general "model glass" approach for improved accuracy (and better mathematical rigor) and 2) add a e-line AbbeMaterial.

To my understanding, if "AbbeMaterialE" is used, the abbe() would return back vd. What would return back ve?

In the description you use "n", and then it changes to "index".

To return back Ve, you'd need to calculate this manually, as the default Abbe number for all materials uses the d-line definition.

Lens.info() gives an error if AbbeMaterialE is used.
Seems the file \optiland\visualization\info\lens_info_viewer.py shall be updated by adding lines like done with AbbeMaterial just for AbbeMaterialE
