Please Explain The Bug

Hi,

I stumbled across another one as explained in the title. Whenever I hover over this symbol (1st screenshot) which is supposed to show information from the official Microsoft documentation, I'm presented with the error attached in the 2nd screenshot. It shows that error and fails to open the mini window showing the doc.

However this doesn't occur on my other machine just fyi.

Hi, I've never seen that error before but i searched for it and there are other cases where it happens

Maybe you can try one of their solutions for repairing WebView2 component on your system.

I also have some questions:

1. Did this error start after a certain change you made, or has it always been like that on that specific system?
2. Does it happen when running the app unelevated too?
3. Have you disabled Edge browser or uninstalled/modified WebView2?

Hi Violet,

thanks for your prompt answer and investigation, as well as reporting and sorry for my late answer, my time is very limited at the moment. I have not tried the solutions from your links yet but I don't want to wait longer answering your questions:

1. Unfortunately I can't answer that with certainty. This specific system is not that old, I have only installed the Hardening tool on this machine since about May or so. I only recently discovered this feature.
2. Can't check that / dunno how to, because every time I want to select a category with this feature the App prompts me to relaunch it with elevated privileges.
3. I have set Chrome as the default browser on this machine. And I have applied the Edge policies from the Hardening App for Edge. But I have not touched explicitly / knowingly WebView2.

I'll try to apply one of the solutions provided by you in the links, but dunno when I have time.
