Password bullets dont show as i type

Am using luks encrypt and the password field does'n get populated as i type , i have the font installed . is there away you can add a bulled.png for the password field instead of chars ?

Hi ! Sorry for the delay...

I could modify the script for the prompt to be populated by bullets images instead of chars but I prefer that the design remains coherent with the theme font.

If believe your issue is that empty characters appears (such as narrow rectangles) as I have the same issue.
Here are the two main reasons I identified while investigating this issue :

1. The plymouth project is transitioning from pango to freetype but it is not a perfect replacement yet, especially for the script plugin where it always resorts to default fonts (wich does not render the bullet char...)
   Unfortunately, the binary label-pango.so is no longer added to the initrd so, before root is mounted, only the default fonts are loaded.
   I added the label-pango.so to initrd but the issue persisted, which led me to the second reason...

2. ... only the fonts that are added to the initrd image are accessible before mounting root. So Plymouth falls back to default fonts for the password prompt.
   That was always the case and I never noticed that my theme displayed the wrong font until this issue happened.
   I notified the plymouth team and suggested that they add a Fonts= ... entry in the script.plymouth theme file as they do for other splash themes and use it to add the files to initrd in the plymouth hook.

I guess we will have to wait for these issues to be resolved...
In the meantime, a workaround would be to create a hook that adds both the label-pango.so and the required fonts to your initrd image. Here is the hook I created for my Arch system with initcpio that works:

In plymouth-git in Arch this seems to be resolved. I added Font = Noto Sans in chain.plymouth, regenerated initrd and it works. Thanks btw. for the nice theme :D
