First Time with HyDE

Hello everyone, I've been using the ml4w setup in my laptop but i just built a pc and I decided to swap to hyprdots and I found that is deprecated in favor of this repo, what is the way to proceed to the instalation?? Is it better to create a frok and clone the fork or is it better to clone the original one, I ask it because I will be edition my config files for macros and distro options that i dont want to lose on updates but i want to keep up with the new features the community implements with the newest updates.

The deprecated repo should still be functional and would help a lot.

If you decide to follow this new repo, note that there will be some changes on waybar structure soon (other stuff are now settled). In this repo we structured the dots to be upgradable without intervening the users changes. Soon the install.sh -r will only update the core stuff.

Thx for guiding me, also just a final question, i had set the keyboard before installing HyDE as loadkeys=es but after installing HyDE it changed the config to default (en_US) keyboard type, how can I change it again to the spanish version_ I have to edit the default hyprland .files or the HyDE ones

Hello everyone,
I’m new here as well and have been experimenting with HyDE for the first time this week. I’m still running some tests on a VM to get familiar with it, but I plan to use it on my personal computer soon.

My question is similar to @0xGeN02 , but in my case, I want to make specific configuration changes. However, when I update (using git pull + ./install.sh -r), the changes I made are overwritten.
For example, I installed the Starship shell, and it worked quickly, but I had to comment out some lines related to the P10k theme in the ~/.zshenv file. After updating, those changes were lost.

Do you have any recommendations on how I can make this kind of change persist?
Or perhaps a way to restore them (maybe from the backup files)?
I thought about creating a small helper script to reapply only the files I’ve changed, but I figured you might already have a solution in mind, so I decided to ask first.

ah yeah, how about uninstalling p10k so that it won't load, I will add in the zshenv a logic to skip the prompt if it doesn't exist. Is that viable?

Just like a distro(but not) we are trying to ship configs in a way that doesn't interfere with users'configs. Now p10k is our default here but we will try to make it a soft dependency by adding logic to not load it if not installed, basically not shoving p10k to everyone.

I believe this could be viable, it seems like a good idea.
I'll run this test here, I'll uninstall P10k so it doesn't load and see the result with Starship.

But this is indeed a good idea. Maybe in the future, it could even become an interactive installation option for the user to choose. P10k is great; I use it in my current setup, but I've been experimenting with Starship and really liking it as well.

This should work. The script already handles when the theme is not installed
