Prompts versioning and rollback feature

i can see prompts rollback and versioning support mentioned in docs but as i explored it seems versioning and rollback not available. Is there any plan for the same in upcoming releases

Hi @mantookr, thanks for your patience — here's an honest update on prompt versioning.

Current state:

• Prompts have a version field (integer, starts at 1) defined in db.py:3970
• The version auto-increments on every update (prompt_service.py:2219: prompt.version = prompt.version + 1)
• Version changes are logged in the audit trail for traceability

What's NOT yet implemented:

• Rollback — previous prompt content is overwritten on update; there is no stored version history to roll back to
• Version history browsing — no API endpoint to retrieve past versions of a prompt

The version field currently serves as an audit counter ("this prompt has been updated N times"), not as a full versioning system.

Current workarounds:

1. Export before changes: Use GET /export to snapshot your full configuration (tools, prompts, servers) as JSON. Use POST /import to restore.
2. Git-based prompt management: Store prompt definitions in version control and deploy via the API (POST /prompts or bulk import). Git gives you full history and rollback.

Roadmap: Full version history with rollback is tracked but has not been prioritized for v1.0. If this is important for your workflow, please open a feature request issue so we can prioritize it.
