How to use drc_exclusions_workaround?

Hello!

I have drc_exclusions_workaround in my config like this:

global:
  drc_exclusions_workaround: true

preflight:
  drc:
    dont_stop: true
    format: HTML,RPT,JSON,CSV
  erc:
    dont_stop: true
    format: HTML,RPT,JSON,CSV

However, I am still seeing DRC errors and warnings in KiBot that I excluded from the UI in KiCAD. Do I need to specifically save these exclusions somehow? The docs here don't say anything more: https://kibot.readthedocs.io/en/master/configuration/global.html

OK now I'm confused by the docs I think. Does drc_exclusions_workaround only apply to run_drc but not drc pre-flights? Ia m using KiCAD 8.

• Here it says "Current KiCad version is 6.0.7 and the bug is still there." for drc_exclusions_workaround: https://kibot.readthedocs.io/en/master/configuration/global.html
• However, drc_exclusions_workaround is only mentioned in run_drc here: https://kibot.readthedocs.io/en/master/configuration/preflight.html#supported-preflights
• And here it says "This is a replacement for the run_drc preflight that needs KiCad 8 or newer.
  GUI exclusions and schematic parity are supported." https://kibot.readthedocs.io/en/master/configuration/preflight.html#supported-preflights

Is it possible that I don't need drc_exclusions_workaround but something else is not working with the drc preflight?

OK, I seem to have run into https://gitlab.com/kicad/code/kicad/-/issues/17429. erc_exclusions and drc_exclusions in the project file are not updated until the board/schematic are closed.

However, I think the docs are still a bit unclear.

Yes, this is a KiCad 6 and 7 issue. So you don't need it for KiCad 8. I added a clarification.
