Overview

Learn from editors of Review of International Political Economy (https://www.tandfonline.com/journals/rrip20) about their use of Harvard Dataverse so that we understand their needs, if and how they might benefit from managing their own collection in Harvard Dataverse, and what we might improve about Harvard Dataverse in order to increase the value the repository.

The journal's editors ask manuscript authors to share their data in one of several generalist repositories when they can't use specialist repositories and point to their publisher's data sharing guidance. The publisher's website about sharing data in repositories recommends Harvard Dataverse among other repositories. @sbarbosadataverse has seen depositors publishing datasets in Harvard Dataverse that are related to articles published in the journal, such as the datasets at https://doi.org/10.7910/DVN/TLRRZQ and https://doi.org/10.7910/DVN/HG3PNI.

Tasks

  • Email ripejournal@gmail.com to ask the journal's staff if we can use email or a Zoom call to learn about their experiences using Harvard Dataverse and other repositories
  • If we're able to contact journal staff and can discuss their experiences using Harvard Dataverse and other repositories:
    • Summarize what we've learned here to share with the rest of the Dataverse team at IQSS
    • If journal staff agree about creating and managing a collection in Harvard Dataverse, help them as needed

Participants

  • Julian Gautier
