I just installed FoxMusic on both my iPad 2,4 (2 Mid 2012) iOS 6.1.3 and my iPhone 4,1 (4S) iOS 6.1.3. After signing in with the Spotify code every time I open the app, attempt to search, or reload the playlists tab I get the error: "The operation couldn't be completed. (Cocoa error 3840.)".

I hope this isn't some issue that's simple to patch and I'm wasting your time, I'm pretty new to jailbreaking and haven't used iOS 6 since 2013.

That was a rather stupid bug in my web request library I wrote where I was replacing a var instead of appending to it, I fixed it already but I haven't yet shipped a new build since the app can't play full songs anymore since Spotify keeps banning the playplay tokens and I can't find a source for decrypted audio and I can't really figure out how to properly decrypt on device. YouTube also encrypts their music stuff. Of course anti piracy is important for these companies but they're making it difficult. I might have to change the app to load audio tracks from another source but I haven't found any that are free yet.

You're definitely not wasting my time I really want the app to work but I'm not sure what to do. I added YouTube playback support and it can play some video's but not the music video's they're DRM protected. Really frustrating.

If you have Xcode installed you can compile the source code (Xcode 4.6 ideally, with iOS SDK 6) it shouldn't throw this error at all anymore and it will play snippets of songs but not the whole song as it's encrypted with keys that are unique to your user session and you can only obtain the decryption keys from the server and you need to feed them through a deobfuscation algorithm because the server obfuscates the encryption keys. I do have the deobfuscation algorithms for a couple versions but each playplay token has it's own random algorithm and Spotify would ban any token I use immediately. The only other official method is Widevine but I have no clue how to work with that on such old iOS version and they can ban Widevine licenses which are built into each device and cannot be replaced so if Spotify were to ban Widevine licenses of people using theapps it'd break Widevine per actually there is no offcial client anyways what do we have to lose then I think there's not really a risk using Widevine then but I still have no clue how to get it compiled on iOS 6. I kinda gave up after trying to find a way. Spotify isn't gonna let me do it. I found one thing written in Python that's able to decrypt, I could wrap a server around it that does decrypting but I can't afford servers and I'm sure people would abuse such API and Spotify would do anything to take that down. It either has to be self hosted, native on-device or third party hosted.

Anyways, would you like me to publish a build of the latest version even though it wouldn't fully work? I can make the YouTube video playback part be usable if anyone is interested.

If you have any ideas on where to get audio files please let me know, I'd love to be able to get the app working again.

I'd love to have access to the newer build, to be honest I'd only be using Spotify on iOS 6 as more of a novelty, kind of like that ChatGPT port to MacOS 9. I don't mind not listening to full songs either, back before I got Spotify the only way I'd listen to songs was the 30 second snippets on my iTunes wishlist.

Alright I'll try to get a newer build working, I'll see if I can get Soundcloud and maybe Deezer streaming support added, and I'll do some fixes for the YouTube part so you can watch older YouTube video's. Some video's aren't hosted in a supported codec from what I can tell and youtube music items are DRM protected so probably not everything can be played back with the built in video player but older YouTube video's work fine.

Great job, bro. If Spotify has closed all avenues for enjoying music, I'd suggest one option: import a playlist from Spotify, export it to a mobile app, and play it from YouTube (if YouTube currently supports Spotify).
This option will, of course, be inconvenient for listening and searching for new music, but it will give you the option to listen to a user-created playlist. You could also add a shared music tab to the tab bar; this is music added by other users, saved to the server database, and retrieved via the server endpoint.
