Hello @Shihabus-Sakib-Rad. I finally got around to solving this problem.

I managed to reproduce this bug on my Samsung UE55TU7092U and tried to solve it in two commits in the dev branch.

If you tested this on your LG, it would give good feedback, as the artifacts in static images have disappeared for me.

But another issue has arisen that I'm currently working on. The key to fixing the artifacts was the intra-refresh=true parameter in the x264enc configuration. However, during testing, I noticed that after about ~1minute 30seconds, the streaming of static images to the video freezes completely. I assume the TV periodically requests an IDR frame (about once every 1-2 minutes to stabilize the decoder). With intra-refresh=true, there are no IDR frames =/.

Basically, I'll think about this issue and will probably report back tomorrow if anything comes up. 👍

Hello again @Shihabus-Sakib-Rad. I solved this problem in commit ADD_restart_video()_prevent_freezes by leaving the intra-refresh=true parameter. Now, when the TV sends a wfd_idr_request request for a reference frame, it will receive it. The artifact will be there, but it's practically unnoticeable. Unfortunately, it's a compromise.

Hello @Shihabus-Sakib-Rad, sorry about that bug, introduced between the two commits.

I add restart_video() specifically to work alongside intra-refresh=true. With intra-refresh enabled, the encoder never produces IDR frames at all, so the only way to give the TV one when it asks is to fully restart the GStreamer pipeline.

Then i removed intra-refresh=true in commit ADD_xdg-portal_support_for_dlna_protocol (it was causing a 7-minute stream freeze on Samsung when watching a film), but forgot to also remove the restart_video() call from the IDR request handler. That left a live pipeline being killed every time the TV sends wfd_idr_request.

LG makes this worse than Samsung. in your logs, the TV sends two wfd_idr_request messages back-to-back immediately after PLAY, before the first RTP byte even arrives (700ms latency probe). So the pipeline gets restarted twice while it's still initializing, and the stream never recovers. in the result blank screen after 3–5 seconds. =[

i fixed that.
restart_video() been removed call from the IDR handler entirely. With intra-refresh=true gone, the encoder generates natural IDR frames every ~1 second (key-int-max=gop).

In general, the artifact situation is much more serious. I was thinking about rewriting _start_desktop_portal to use the built-in GStreamer pipeline.
Instead of running gst-launch as a subprocess, I could build the same pipeline but with full control. But... that would require a lot of time and testing.

Could you test the latest commit on your LG? The session should now stay alive without blanking. Apologies again for the regression, should be solid now.

The latest commit is functional again but with noticeable lag. The artifact seems to be reduced but not completely gone. I would prefer the no-lag version with artifact as the lag makes the virtual monitor impossible to use. The main use case of fluxcast is to extend the monitor and if i want to cast a video i can do so without artifact by using go2tv or fcast
