Screen sharing doesn't work on Wayland

Reproduction steps

On Ubuntu by default comes with wayland, teams works fine, till I start screen sharing in a meeting, then either noting happens or it even turns off my camera. Switching back my Ubuntu settings to use xorg fixes the problem.

Hi, thanks for reporting.

I can see you indicated this also happens on the browser what means is not an issue with the app.

I would recommend reaching out to chrome and/or microsoft communities as they will be able to help you.

You probably need to add extra flags to make it work in Wayland. For some users this is not even possible, maybe for drivers or config.

I will leave it open for a few days in case you find something but I don't think we can help you much. if you can put all the logs maybe it tells me something, but that line unfortunately doesn't say much.

Oh, and it could well be your snap config. Try one for the other packages.

Sorry, the "website/PWA" comment was a mistake, just removed that.

Checked the web client and screen sharing works fine there. (Updated the ticket too)

I've installed teams4linux from deb now and it fixed the issue! So it's snap only (updated title)

snap can be a pain on that configuration. I would suggest to check in their forums. It might not have applied the right permissions. You need to give it permission to screenshare and I suspect sometimes that doesn't apply to wayland for some reason.

Electron builder doesn't support core24 yet. So we are stuck @YamiYukiSenpai

We use core22. See the line in the package.json.

I don't think is related to the build, but local os configuration. Otherwise there would be more noise as there are around 190k daily active users in snap. Wayland and snap are known from not playing well with each other in some systems. Check the close issues and you will see if a long standing recurrent issue for some.
