Description
JabRef version
5.12 (latest release)
Operating system
macOS
Details on version and operating system
Sonoma 14.2, M2
Checked with the latest development build (copy version output from About dialog)
- I made a backup of my libraries before testing the latest development version.
- I have tested the latest development version and the problem persists
Steps to reproduce the behaviour
- wait for jabref to crash on a
.bibfile ... - reopen jabref
- restore the backup for the
.bibfile - The backup is always empty and erases the bib file every single time
Appendix
EDIT : There is actually a review backup button.
I think there should be a warning inviting to review the backup before proceeding if it's empty or small compared to the current .bib file
If I hadn't saved my .bib file in a local .git repository, it would have been erased multiple times by Jabref.
This all happened on an external drive
