- Listening actively - Taking time to understand others' perspectives
- Giving credit - Acknowledging others' contributions and ideas
Examples of unacceptable behavior include:
- Harassment, intimidation, or discrimination of any kind
- Offensive comments related to gender, gender identity, age, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, ethnicity, nationality, race, religion, or veteran status
- Unwelcome sexual attention or advances
- Threats of violence or violent language
- Insults or personal attacks
- Publishing private information without consent
- Spam or excessive self-promotion
- Disruption of discussions or events
- Deliberate misrepresentation or bad faith arguments
- Other conduct that would reasonably be considered inappropriate
Project maintainers are responsible for:
- Clarifying the standards of acceptable behavior
- Taking appropriate and fair corrective action in response to unacceptable behavior
- Removing, editing, or rejecting contributions that violate this Code of Conduct
- Protecting the confidentiality of those who report violations
This Code of Conduct applies to all community members, including:
- Contributors
- Maintainers
- Users
- Participants in discussions and events
It applies in all project spaces and extends to public spaces where an individual is representing the project or community.
If you witness or experience behavior that violates this Code of Conduct, please report it by:
- Direct Contact - Email james@honey-badger.org with details of the incident
- GitHub Issues - Create a private security advisory on GitHub
- Anonymous Reports - Use our anonymous reporting form (when available)
When reporting, please include:
- Description of the incident
- Who was involved
- When and where it occurred
- Any relevant context or evidence
- Your contact information (if you're comfortable sharing)
All reports will be:
- Reviewed promptly and fairly
- Investigated confidentially
- Treated with respect and taken seriously
Possible responses include:
- Education - If behavior was unintentional, providing context and education
- Warnings - Requesting the person change their behavior
- Temporary restrictions - Temporary removal from community spaces
- Permanent bans - For serious or repeated violations
We will inform the reporter of the outcome where appropriate.
If you believe enforcement action was inappropriate, you may appeal by:
- Submitting a written appeal to james@honey-badger.org
- Explaining why you believe the action was unjust
- Requesting reconsideration
