Missing values?

In many DataFrames and other tables, there are missing values. Do you have a strategy for these cases? e.g. one strategy is to treat all comparisons with missing as a fixed distance (e.g. 0.0)

I don't know which design would be most useful, but it seems reasonable what you suggested.
