From Scratch does not work on Ubuntu 24.04

Hey there!

It seems like fromscratch (which I love, btw) doesn not work on Ubuntu 24.04.

You can install it from the official store, latest version. However, it doesn't even open, or show any error at all.

How can we debug this? Thanks aganin for making such a simply beautiful tool.

I haven't worked on it for six years. You can try installing the latest release as deb: https://github.com/Kilian/fromscratch/releases/tag/v1.4.3

Then open it from a terminal and see if there are any errors.

I used the snap package on ubuntu 24.04 and it works flawlessly.

I used this heavily on 24.04 (via the snap) and it works very well. Loved it. But I switched to a new machine for daily work, running 25.10 for now, and it fails to launch (same as reported in this bug). :( also via snap.

I'll try the debs to see if that is the difference but for now I have to try finding another scratchpad tool.
