Cost control for prompts?

I issued a simple Ask prompt for specific information and flipped to another window for a few minutes. When I came back, the model had gotten incredibly distracted and was still going, racking up $4.55 in charges before I told it to stop.

Is there way to make the AI stop and wait for confirmation before bankrupting me?

Which model was this? I have to assume that it was Sonnet 3.7 given the context length (and cost!)

There are a few ideas we have for making this better:

1. Auto-approve / full vibe mode just has this risk so you could disable some of the automatic approvals to take more control over when it wants to make new reads or calls
2. We need to add this feature from Cline which is a blunt instrument to let you auto approve to an extent: Missing Cline "max requests" feature #288
3. I'd like to also have a similar field to that but cost based instead of number of requests based

These are the auto-approve settings I used on this prompt. And I don't think Ask will use the browser anyway.

Lets not close this yet @HadesArchitect. We added a way to allow the max requests and that's great but this is not the same as having an actual proper cost control. I think it makes sense to figure out a way to kill requests once a maximum cost is reached. This is independent of setting a maximum dollar vallue that you want to spend per task.
