Keep the search visible

I'm always frustrated when I am in Preview and it closes the search text after it lost the focus, so I need to type the search and text again.

Describe the solution you'd like
I'd like to have the search text box open/visible as long as I want even when it lost the focus.

Describe alternatives you've considered
Add a button to close the search text feature only when I click on it.

It happens when I am in the result preview tab

I agree, this is very frustating when I'm switching between tabs. I loose where I was in the search and I have to start over...every time I switch back. I don't know of any other application that does this.
