Question: Why is the LanguageServer/Extention for Kotlin so huge (600 MB)?

Hi,

comparing with other programming languages Kotlin´s LanguageServer is about 10 times larger and the extention has 600 MB.

Will this be reduced in the future?

Is the LanguageServer based on Ktor?

I noticed two moments:

1. The lsp server jar itself (which is located under ~/.vscode/extensions/jetbrains.kotlin-0.252.16998/server/extracted/lib/language-server.kotlin-lsp.jar) is huge because it contains all the source codes, images, etc. Probably there some misconfiguration of jar building
2. There are tons of java dependencies which are shipped with lsp server (located in the same directory). Some of them are quite big, such as gradle-api, js-language and so on

Currently, it contains the full dependency graph of the IJ parts that we are reusing.

We expect it to be trimmed at least by a factor of two -- just getting rid of unnecessary dependencies, proguard'ing it etc.
It is currently out of the scope for the next few releases, but something we are aware of
