This issue is to revisit the submerged excavation model using linear elastic materials only, and apply a prestress to the interface elements when they are activated. The absence of a prestress in the interface elements was one of the key problems that we discovered last time. When a process is in place to apply a prestress to the interface elements, we will need to update the submerged excavation model and investigate the impact it has on the analysis results. Also, we need to compare once again the obtained results with the results using other geotechnical software.
