Many subscriptions to WS cause delays

I'm noticing an issue where if I subscribe to more than 1 topic, the frequency of notifications for each subsequent topic drops a lot. For example I'm getting kline data for 6 coins, the first 2 I get updates for nearly every second, the 6th one is once a minute. How can this be resolved? Seems like that defeats the point of a websocket.
