What is the configuration required to give a trial?

I would like to

1. Give a X day trial, which means no billing prompt when the user first installs the extension
2. After X days, if they tried to access the extension, it won't work, instead redirecting them Shopify's billing prompt
3. How do I test this in development to be confident that it will work in production?

There is the built in trial, which is part of the charges table - this adds a free trial as part of the Shopify subscription.

Everything else is handled by Shopify. If you want to do something more specific to your app you will need to create your own "trial" logic as part of your app logic.
